Buckeye Lake is a village located in both Fairfield and Licking counties, named after the large lake along which the village is built, called Buckeye Lake.

The Village of Buckeye Lake sits along State Route 79, approximately 31 miles East of Columbus and 33 miles West of Zanesville, Ohio.

 

The village of Buckeye Lake once held an amusement park with a Ferris wheel, roller coaster, dance pavilions, and arcade. Once known as the Playground of Ohio.

 

Buckeye Lake evolved from a resort area to an incorporated residential village in July of 1980. The desire to update former summer cottages into year-round, permanent homes was a driving factor in the incorporation of the village. Interesting places to see in The Village Buckeye Lake including the Blue Heron nesting area, the Buckeye Lake Historical Museum, the multi-use trail along the original canal towpath, and the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club.
